Case Summary

The EEOC's Seattle district office sued American Seafoods Company, a national seafood harvester, on September 19, 2000 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The EEOC's complaint is unavailable; however the court's order dismissing the action states that American Seafoods allegedly violated Title VII's prohibition of pregnancy discrimination. American Seafoods filed a motion for partial summary judgment against the EEOC's class claims in August 2001, but the court denied it in October 2001. The parties settled on February 1, 2002 and the settlement agreement is unavailable.
