The Detroit District Office filed this case in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. The defendant was Flint Ink Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of publication, commercial and packaging inks. It was alleged that the complainants, both females, were paid less than their male counterparts for doing the same work, a violation of the Equal Pay Act. The lawsuit was filed in March 2002 and was eventually resolved by consent decree in January 2003. The complainants, who did not intervene in the case, were awarded a total of $120,000. In addition, the company had to provide a training session to all management personnel. The duration of the consent decree was one year.
