The Los Angeles District Office of the EEOC brought this action in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, against Unicom Electric, Inc., d/b/a Unicom Global Systems Solutions and Unity in Communications. The complaint, filed in September 2002, alleged sex, race, and national origin discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Both parties filed motions for partial summary judgment in November 2003, but neither of the motions was resolved and the parties entered into a consent decree in January 2004.

The decree, valid for three years, required Defendant to pay $350,000 to the three charging parties and 7 other class members. Defendant was enjoined from discriminating or retaliating, and required to post a notice of non-discrimination, provide EEO training to its employees and regularly report to the EEOC about its compliance with the decree. Defendant must also retain and pay for the services of an EEO consultant, who will evaluate the Defendant's anti-harassment policy and complaint procedures, investigate complaints and recommend remedial measures, and must establish a 12-hour hotline for complaints regarding discrimination.
