In April 1997 the Los Angeles district office of the EEOC brought this suit against Aspen Distribution II, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The details of the complaint and the allegations brought by the EEOC are unavailable. The original complaint named "Aspen Distribution" as the defendant, but the complaint against this named defendant was dismissed, and an amended complaint was filed against Aspen Distribution II, Inc.

After a December 1997 settlement conference, the parties settled the matter by a settlement agreement in February 1998. The details of this agreement are unknown.
