The EEOC's Philadelphia office filed this suit on July 8, 2004 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Newark Division. The suit alleged that defendant Carnegie Deli, Inc., violated Title VII by subjecting female employees to a sexually hostile work environment at its Carlstadt, New Jersey location. After the defendant answered, a pretrial conference was held on January 11, 2005. On September 12, 2005, a settlement agreement was entered into the record. The case was voluntarily dismissed by stipulation on September 14, 2005 and a consent decree was entered in September 2005. In the consent decree, the defendant agreed to pay a sum of $90,000 to eight complainants. The defendant also agreed to implement a non-discrimination policy, train its upper level employees to receive complaints and report to the EEOC during the three year decree. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
