The New Orleans Office of the EEOC filed this action in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The Defendant was Leson Chevrolet Company, Inc., a car dealer. The controversy involved the alleged failure of the Defendant to hire a physically disabled employee in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The lawsuit was filed in March of 2005 and was eventually resolved by consent decree in June of 2006. The complainant, who intervened in the case, was awarded $15,000. In addition, the company was required to develop an annual training seminar, post a Notice, and file annual written reports with the EEOC. The decree was to last for thirty months.
