In 2:00-cv-4497, the EEOC's Newark and Philadelphia offices filed lawsuit against General Motors Corporation (GM) on September 14, 2000 in the District of New Jersey. In 2:00-cv-4735, the EEOC also filed lawsuit against GM in the District of New Jersey, this time on September 28, 2000. A private party complainant, Mary Scott, successfully intervened in 00-4497 in December of 2000. The cases were consolidated for discovery purposes on December 12, 2000. In 00-4735, GM filed a motion to dismiss the case's class action components, which the court subsequently denied. The cases were consolidated in full on February 15, 2001, after which GM again (unsuccessfully) moved to dismiss the class action component of the case. The cases concluded with a consent decree in September 2008. Only the dockets were available in these cases.
