The Memphis Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Sharp Manufacturing Company in September 2006 in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. The complaint alleged that Sharp violated the Americans With Disabilities Act by failing to provide the complainant with reasonable accommodation and discharged her because of her disability. In February 2008, the court granted in part and denied in part Sharp's motion for summary judgment, finding that the complainant had raised an issue of material fact as to whether she was a disabled individual otherwise qualified, either with or without reasonable accommodations or with an allegedly essential job requirement eliminated, but finding that some specific allegations did not raise an issue of material fact. As of April 22, 2008, this case was still in litigation.
