The Washington D.C. and Philadelphia Offices of the EEOC brought this suit against U.S. Steel Fairless Works in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in February 2001. The complaint alleged sex discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The complainant brought a separate suit against U.S. Steel Fairless Works in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in February 2001 (2:01-cv-00888-BWK). After one failed motion to intervene and consolidate the cases by the private plaintiff in March 2001, the private plaintiff moved a second time to intervene and consolidate which was granted in January 2002. Subsequent to consolidation, the EEOC case was designated the lead case. After a couple discovery motions, the case was settled by consent decree in April 2002. The consent decree was amended in August 2002. The decree is unavailable so the terms of the agreement are unknown.
