In January 2001, the EEOC district office in Houston, Texas brought this action against the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The complaint alleged that the defendant violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act by causing an employee to be denied a desired transfer in retaliation for his earlier filing of an age discrimination complaint.

The parties settled in July 2001. No settlement documentation is available.
