The Dallas District Office of the EEOC brought this action in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, against Orr Automotive Group. The complaint, filed in September 2002, alleged sex discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, specifically that Defendant subjected the charging party to sexual harassment.
The parties entered into a consent decree in July 2003. The decree, valid for two years, required Defendant to pay the charging party a total of $140,000, provide her with a neutral employment reference and expunge her employment records. The decree also enjoined Defendant from discriminating in violation of Title VII, and required Defendant to provide EEO training to its employees twice a year, post a notice of non-discrimination, revise and distribute its sexual harassment policy and designate a company official for employees to report sexual harassment claims to. Defendant was also required to report to the EEOC about its compliance with the decree.
