Case Summary

The EEOC's Phoenix district office sued Micron Technology on June 30, 2005 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. The EEOC's Phoenix district office sued Micron Technology on June 30, 2005 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. The EEOC's complaint alleged that the defendant violated Title VII and the Americans with Disabilities Act when it discriminated against the intervenor, who intervened in October 2005, based on physical disability (deafness) and national origin. The parties entered into a consent decree on February 27, 2007, which stipulated that the defendant would pay the complainant $60,000 in damages, post a notice of compliance with Title VII, provide Title VII training to its employees as part of the defendant's regular training, provide a written apology to the intervenor, expunge the intervenor's employment record, provide the intervenor with a positive reference, maintain records of compliance measures with the consent decree, and report compliance with the consent decree to the EEOC annually. The terms of the agreement were to run for 2 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
