The Seattle Office of the EEOC filed this action in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The Defendant was Home Depot USA, Inc., a home improvement products retailer. The controversy involved alleged harassment of the basis of the complainant's religion (Judaism), and termination in retaliation for his complaints. The lawsuit was filed in September 1998 and was resolved by settlement agreement in August 1999. The complainant, who intervened in the case, was awarded $50,000 and his attorney was awarded $42,000. In addition, facility managers were required to attend an annual training seminar and the company had to post a Notice. The decree was to last for twenty-six months.
