In September 2006, the EEOC's Chicago District Office filed suit against America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses in United States District Court, District of Minnesota. The suit alleged that an employee of the defendant was disciplined, denied full-time employment, and ultimately discharged because of her age, in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.
The case was resolved in October 2007 by consent judgment. The consent decree awarded the charging party $40,000, and also included injunctive relief. America's Best was ordered to post anti-discrimination laws, to institute anti-discrimination training, and to report to the EEOC any future incidents of alleged age discrimination. The settlement term was 2 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
