Case Summary

In September 2000, the Chicago (along with the Washington, D.C.) office of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Fairchild Printing Service, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The complaint alleged that the defendant discriminated and retaliated against the claimant for complaining of racial harassment and discrimination in violation of Title VII. The court dismissed the case in July 2001 for failure to prosecute, but the parties reinstated the case for the purpose of entering the consent decree in August 2001.

The one year consent decree required the defendant to pay the claimant $15,000, post notice, refrain from retaliation, and give the EEOC reports every six months on any complaints of retaliation.
