The Seattle District Office of the EEOC brought this action in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, against Premier Pacific Seafoods, Inc. The complaint, filed in February 2000, alleged national origin discrimination and retaliation in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The parties entered a consent decree in February 2001. The decree, valid for 3 years plus 90 days, required Defendant to: pay charging party $30,000 ($15,000 in back pay and $15,000 in emotional distress damages); provide Title VII training to its managers and human resource staff; set up an internal grievance procedure; post a non-discrimination notice at its facility; and make regularly scheduled reports to the EEOC regarding internal discrimination complaints.
