In January 2003, the Houston Office of the EEOC filed this lawsuit against The Reliable Life Insurance Company in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. We do not have a copy of the complaint; therefore, the exact allegations involved are unknown. Following very little litigation activity, the defendant submitted an offer of judgment, which was entered by the Court in August 2003.
The judgment order, containing anti-discrimination and retaliation clauses, required the defendant to: offer anti-discrimination training, make compliance reports about the training, post notice of employee rights, and pay $75,000 for all liability, costs, and attorney's fees.
