The EEOC's Seattle district office sued Life Care Centers of America, Inc., a national nursing home provider and operator. The EEOC's complaint alleged that Life Care Centers violated Title VII when it discriminated against one of its employees based on sex (female) by creating a hostile work environment and retaliated against her, leading to her constructive discharge. The parties entered into a consent decree on May 27, 2003. The consent decree stipulated that Life Centers would pay the aggrieved employee $28,000, refrain from future discrimination, institute anti-discrimination policies, revise and distribute to its employees its EEO statement, provide Title VII compliance training to its employees, implement a disciplinary program to deal with discrimination, provide semi-annual reports to the EEOC concerning compliance with the settlement agreement, and post notice of compliance with Title VII.
The decree was entered in 2003 and scheduled to last until 2006. No further docket entries exist, so the case is closed.
