In September 2001, the Dallas (along with San Antonio) office of the EEOC brought this ADEA suit against 7-Eleven Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The complaint alleged the defendant failed to promote the charging party to the position of Executive Assistant because of her age. The parties reached a settlement agreement after mediation in July 2002.

The two year settlement agreement required the defendant to pay the charging party $20,000 ($10,000 in back pay and $10,000 in damages), refrain from discrimination, post notice of the settlement, provide training for supervisors with Executive Assistant hiring authority on requirements and prohibitions of the ADEA, post all Executive Assistant vacancies, give reports on applicants, give reports on applicants for Executive Assistant positions, retain all interview notes of Executive Assistant interviews, and give the EEOC a report on compliance with the settlement agreement.
