In March 1998, the Seattle District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against United Airlines in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. The only document that is publicly available regarding this case is the docket. Thus, the exact nature of the allegations is unclear. However, the two parties went through several discovery disputes and motions for summary judgment. In March 1999, the parties took part in an unsuccessful settlement conference. In early April 1999, the Court granted one of the EEOC's motions for summary judgment, but we cannot tell from the docket exactly what allegations this motion involved. Four days later, another settlement conference was held, which did result in a settlement. The parties entered into a final settlement agreement in June 1999.
