On September 29, 1989, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, represented by an attorney from that organization, filed a lawsuit pursuant to 28 USC 451 (employment discrimination) in a U.S. District Court in the western district of the state of Washington. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the Simpson Timber Company, the International Woodworkers of America, the Western Council of Industrial Workers, along with several individual defendants. The defendants were represented by private counsel. The International Woodworkers of America and two individual defendants were cross claimants against Simpson Timber Company, Western Council of Industrial Workers, and a an individual cross defendant.

On November 11, 1992, the court (Judge William Dywer) issued an order requiring the plaintiffs to finalize a list of potential class members by November 20, 1992, and to participate in settlement negotiations. The parties reached an out of court settlement, whereby the claimants were granted monetary compensation. On December 2, 1993, the court (Judge William Dywer) issued a Consent Decree. On January 12, 1994, the court (Judge William Dywer) approved the distribution of the compensation fund to the claimants. This is the last entry in the PACER docket.
