On June 11, 1996, the United States Department of Justice ("DOJ") filed an employment discrimination lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama against the Alabama State Docks Department. The DOJ sought injunctive relief alleging what seems (from the little documentation we have) to be sex discrimination. On June 14, 1996, the District Court (Judge Charles R. Butler) entered a consent decree. The court retained jurisdiction over the case for a period of four (4) years in order to resolve any issues relating to the enforcement of the consent decree. On August 8, 2000, the court granted the DOJ's motion to terminate the consent decree and dismiss the case with prejudice.

This case is closed. Neither the consent decree nor the complaint are available. The only document we have is the docket.
