On December 16, 1980, the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ) filed a lawsuit against the Great Western Bank and Trust in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. The suit, presumably brought under 42 U.S.C. §§ 3601-3631 (Fair Housing Act), alleged discrimination against Native Americans in housing loans. A consent decree was filed sometime in 1982, the exact terms of which are unknown to us.
There are no reported opinions or other documents available for this case. What little we do know is from brief references to this case in the Attorney General's report to Congress (1981, pg. 125, FN 60, and 1982, pg. 159, FN 62).
